Easy Cozy Blanket

I decided on a blanket pattern! I was digging around in my hope chest (that has mostly yarn and unfinished projects in it) and found a blanket I had begun a few years ago from scraps. It's join-as-you-go (my favorite!) from two-round motifs, some solid and some with two colors. I'm hoping to use up a lot of my extra yarn in making this pretty blanket. Won't it look cute in my car or thrown over my bed?

If you want to try making a blanket like this one, it's quite easy.

To make a basic motif:

Chain 4 and join into a ring.
Chain 3 and work 12 double crochet into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to 3rd chain of beginning chain 3.
Chain 3, double crochet in same stitch as join, chain 1, 2 double crochet in same stitch, *skip next double crochet, (2 double crochets, chain 1, 2 double crochets) in next double crochet, repeat from * around, join with slip stitch to 3rd chain of beginning chain 3.

Sew the motifs together. Or if you would like to make this blanket using the join-as-you-go technique, attach motifs on 2nd round by working single crochet in corresponding space instead of chain 1 when doing the clusters, and joining with single crochet between clusters. You can see how I did it in most of these pictures.

Weaving in all those ends is going to be fun...
