The strong colors in this yarn remind me of autumn. The shades all go beautifully together like an old Italian mosaic. This is the first time I've ever felted a hat. Still, it's nice and warm and loose. Here is the simple pattern.
US J/10 (6mm) crochet hook
Patons Classic Wool in Harvest (3.5 oz, 223 yds)
Yarn needle
Stitch markers
Hat is crocheted in continuous rounds. Keep your gauge loose. The pre-felted hat will be quite large.

Set washing machine for hot wash and cold rinse. Wash hat with a little laundry soap and a few cotton T-shirts. It might take more than one cycle to get your desired effect, but I only had to put it through the washer once. I dried it on high for 20 minutes to get the right size. Weave in ends.
hello. I am making your lovely hat with the wool you suggested :) I have a question about round 5 and the increase rounds.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say to move the markers up with each round.. which st do we move it to? the first of the 2 sc or the 2nd of the 2 sc? or does it not matter? Thanks for this pattern. Looking forward to finishing :)
never mind!! don't you love how right after you ask a question you get that "AH HAH!" moment? lol!! Going to post pictures on Ravelry when finished. Thanks again for the pattern! You do wonderful work!
