Gloves di Calabria
Calabria is an Italian region located right near the toe of Italy’s boot. My father’s family roots back to this historic area. In the Monte Pollino region, the climate becomes quite cold. I can see the vibrant Italians wearing these fingerless gloves to keep warm. The warm, variegated colors in this woolen yarn capture the essence of the Italian autumn and winter.
Materials Used:
E/4 3.5 mm crochet hook
Patons Kroy sock yarn in Clover Colors
Yarn Needle
Arrow Stitch Pattern* (worked over a multiple of 4 stitches plus 1)
Note: To make a double treble (Dtr), wrap around 3 times, insert hook into indicated stitch, *yarn over, draw through two loops, repeat from * until you have one loop left on hook.

Work Arrow Stitch Pattern rows 1-5, then 2-5 for ten repeats. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing side seam. Thread the yarn needle and sew up the seam 4 inches, fasten off. Skip 1.5 inches for thumb hole, rejoin yarn and sew remaining length. Ecco i guanti Calabria!
